Quick Tip : Press SHIFT to Hibernate your PC

Hibernating a computer is a nice way to restore the state of the computer even after powering it off. Hibernate saves the state of the system by writing the contents of the RAM to the hard disk before powering off the computer and then restoring back to state when we switch on the PC.

First you have to enable Hibernate option which requires some amount of harddisk space ( ~ to the RAM ). You can enable it by going to Control Panel > Power Options as shown below.

And an easy way to hibernate is go to start > turn off and then when this screen below appears press 'SHIFT' key and you will get Hibernate instead of Standby.
